Accountability & Accessibility:
Clinton is fortunate to have dedicated public servants,
both employees and volunteers. The more open and
clear we are about our town’s services and finances, and
the more closely we listen to our citizens’ priorities,
concerns, and ideas, the better off our town will be.
Long-term Planning and Community:
Good management means good long-term planning. Planning that
takes into account not just the next project or, but the
long term. And not just for one group of people – for
seniors, for families, for businesses, for all citizens. Our
future is together in this great town – let’s keep it our
Clinton. One Clinton.
Master Plan:
I am proud to have served
on the Master Plan Steering Committee which advocated for
funding and the selection of Master Planning Consultants.
Our Plan is coming along and will be complete soon. Our
updated Open Space Plan is complete and enabled us to
become eligible for the Rauscher Farm self help grant award
of $353,600
Open Space: Open space is a key
issue is keeping Clinton attractive and livable. We must
find strategies to maintain what we have and further expand
Clinton’s open space – while respecting the owners’ rights
to the value of their land. If we don't start preserving
some open space and slowing the rate of growth our
infrastructure and quality of life here will suffer.
Public Safety:
In today’s world,
our public safety professionals – police, fire fighters and
EMT's – are our key public safety assets. Joe supports
strong public safety teams for Clinton.
Quality School System: Whether or not we have
school-age children or grandchildren, our future depends on
Clinton's next generation receiving a quality education. As
a supporter of our schools, Joe believes in the importance
of education.
Affordability:
No one should be
‘priced out’ of their hometown. To keep Clinton affordable,
we must balance services with resources – according to our
citizens’ priorities. That will give us the community
we all want to live in.
Senior Services: Our Senior Citizens have spent their
lives making our town what it is: raising families, working
hard, volunteering. Joe supports expanding Clinton's
opportunities and services for seniors, including a new
Senior Center.
Downtown Clinton: Downtown Clinton has come quite a
ways from the dreary 1970's. But our work is not done - We
still have storefronts to fill and need to help our existing
downtown merchants any way we can. Working with local
business, we must help create a local shopping experience
second to none.
